A Ternary Digital to Analog Converter with High Power Output and 170-dB Dynamic Range
نویسنده
چکیده
A prototype of a very high dynamic range 32bits Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) was designed and built for the purpose of direct auditory stimulus generation. It provides signals from less than 100 nV up to 50 Watts peak power output, driving a 32-Ohms earphone or speaker. The use of ternary cells makes possible a 170 dB dynamic range that is basically limited by thermal noise only.

A Single Supply Wide Bandwidth 4 : 1 Video Multiplexer in an 8 GHz
A high performance monolithic 4:1 analog multiplexer implemented in an 8 GHz dielectrically isolated complementary bipolar process was designed and simulated. It is useful in many general purpose high-speed applications such as driving an 150 Q cable or an analog to digital (A/D) converter. This switched transconductance amplifier 4:1 video multiplexer has a current mode decoder, a voltage feed...
متن کاملDesigning an Integrated All-Optical Analog to Digital Converter
We present the procedure for designing a high speed and low power all-optical analog to digital converter (AO-ADC), by integrating InGaAsP semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) with InP based photonic crystal (PhC) drop filters. The self-phase modulation in the SOA can shift the frequency of the Gaussian input pulse. The two output PhC based drop filters are designed to appropriately code the f...
متن کاملA low-glitch binary-weighted DAC with delay compensation scheme
This paper presents a high-speed, low-glitch, and low-power design for a 10-bit binary-weighted currentsteering digital-to-analog converter (DAC). Instead of using large input buffers to drive a lot of current switches and re-timing latches, the proposed design uses variabledelay buffers with a compact layout to compensate for the delay difference among different bits, and to reduce glitch ener...
متن کاملA Digital Common-Mode Rejection Technique for Differential Analog-to-Digital Conversion
A multibit analog-to-digital converter can achieve high resolution with a lower order modulator and lower oversampling ratio than a single-bit design, but it requires a multibit internal flash analog-to-digital converter rather than a simple comparator. In an implementation with a fully differential analog front end, the flash analog-to-digital converter must quantize a differential voltage rel...
متن کاملA 12-bit CMOS Ratio-Independent Algorithmic Analog-to-Digital Converter
This paper proposes a 1.5 V 12-b CMOS ratio-independent algorithmic analog-to-digital converter (ADC) based on a capacitor-mismatch insensitive technique. A novel switched-capacitor multiplying digital-to-analog converter (MDAC) with an accurate gain of two is proposed for an algorithmic ADC. The proposed MDAC architecture requires only one opamp in four phases to generate the next residue outp...
